Professor Ogawa’s seminar (zemi) students organized a medal celebration party for his extraordinary accomplishment in Lao PDR. More than 40 students and alumni joined the party on November 17th, 2018, and they provided congratulatory notes and heartfelt speeches. In honor of Professor Ogawa, the students prearranged a cake, flowers, and gifts to make the day unforgettable. Professor Ogawa was extremely impressed by his students’ proactiveness in organizing such a memorable day for him. He was also very happy to meet everyone at the party. Nearly 10 alumni came from Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka to celebrate with his students.
Professor Keiichi Ogawa was awarded the Prime Minister’s Labour Medal (Cross of Labor) for his significant contribution to the development of education in Lao PDR for more than fifteen years. On behalf of the Prime Minister, Her Excellency Madam Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, the Minister of Education and Sports, presented the gold medal to Professor Ogawa in Vientiane on September 10th, 2018. The award ceremony was broadcast on national television as well as in both English and Lao newspapers.
