On March 24, 2016, the commencement ceremony for the doctoral students of Kobe University was held in Rokkodai Hall. Two of the Ogawa seminar students, Mr. Katsuki Sakaue and Mr. Kentaro Shimada, received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. Mr. Sisouphanthong Viriyasack who participated in Ogawa seminar as sub-seminar, also received a doctor’s degree at the ceremony. Other students from Ogawa seminar participated at the ceremony to congratulate the accomplishment of their senior students.
Dr. Shimada will be conducting his study as a research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) in the Graduate School of Education at Kyoto University. Dr. Sakaue has begun to work for the UNESCO Bureau for Asia Pacific Region as a Program Officer from early April this year. Dr. Sisouphanthong will be working on his research on economics of education under Professor Ogawa as a research fellow from the end of this April after working as a lecturer for the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, National University of Laos.
