The Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Conference 2025 took place in Chicago from March 21st to 26th, bringing together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers from leading universities, international organizations, and non-profits. As one of the largest gatherings in the International Education field, the conference provided a space for insightful discussions and knowledge exchange.

Among this year’s presenters was Dr. Danilo Leite Dalmon, a research fellow at GSICS and consultant for the World Bank, who shared key findings from his doctoral dissertation with title “A comparison between the primary school support provided by positive and negative outliers municipal governments in Brazil.” The feedback he received during the discussion will contribute to shaping his future research projects.
The panel session featured two other studies on local governments in Latin America, offering comparative perspectives on regional governance challenges. Additionally, the conference included engaging discussions on local governments in Africa and South Asia, topics that align closely with Dr. Leite Dalmon’s ongoing research interests.
