On July 1st, 2022, the University of Dhaka’s Department of Japanese Studies, where Ogawa seminar’s alumni Dr. Md Jahangir Alam works, received an award from the Japanese Foreign Minister for outstanding contributions to the promotion of friendly relationships, including an academic exchange between Japan and Bangladesh, the expansion of Japanese studies in Bangladesh, and the nurturing of Japanese researchers.
The University of Dhaka, the oldest university in Bangladesh, had its 100th anniversary in 2020. After 100 years, the university has 13 faculties, 13 institutes, 84 departments, 60 bureaus and research centers, 19 residential halls, four hostels, and 138 affiliated colleges and institutions.
In 2021, two students from Ogawa seminar interned at the University of Dhaka’s Department of Japanese studies under the supervision of Dr. Alam.
