The 58th Japan Comparative Education Society Annual Conference occurred online between June 24th and 26th, 2022. In the conference, there were 11 roundtable sessions, 107 research presentations, an open symposium and 2 selected research sessions.
Professor Ogawa gave a speech in a roundtable session on the first day of the conference. Professor Ogawa and 7 professors from other universities (graduate school) presented on the theme of “Clarification of teaching-learning process in developing countries”. In this session, each professor focused on 6 countries located in Asia and South America (Lao PDR, Mongolia, Nepal, Bolivia, Cambodia, and Indonesia), and reported the actual conditions of the teaching-learning process that affects students’ learning outcome in each country. Professor Ogawa analyzed the relationship between school fees and learning outcomes in Mongolia and demonstrated that school fees and test scores are positively correlated in the Mongolian and that English/Russian and private schools show higher scores than public schools.
