The 59th Japan Comparative Education Society Annual Conference (JCES) was held at Sophia University, Japan, this year. The conference, held in a hybrid format, was divided into two parts. The first part included online research presentation sessions and book talk sessions from June 16th to 18th, 2023. The second part, featuring the general meeting, open symposium, reception, round table, young researchers’ exchange meeting, and research project panels I and II, occurred from June 24th to 25th, 2023. The theme of this year’s open symposium was “Learning Communities for a Sustainable Society,” with discussions focusing on people’s learning and the networks that support it, as educational reform is attracting attention in Japan and abroad. During the event, two graduates, three doctoral students, and four master’s students from the Ogawa-seminar presented their research results.
At round table I-3 held on the 25th, Professor Ogawa delivered a presendation on the theme of “Elucidating the teaching-learning process related to the quality of education: a comparative study of Asian, South American, and African Countries.” Professor Ogawa, along with six professors from other universities presented their research findings.
