Ogawa Seminar student received the “Outstanding Research Presentation Award” at the 33rd Japan Society for Africa Educational Research Conference

On the 6th and 7th of April 2024, the 33rd Japan Society for Africa Educational Research (JSAER) Conference was held at Tohoku University. At this conference, 1 alumnus, 4 doctoral students, and 7 master students from Kobe University presented their research proposal and findings.

The first day of this conference started with an opening address by Associate Professor Jing Liu of Tohoku University, the chairman of the executive committee of this conference. In addition, in the special session of “Sino-Africa Cooperation for Educational Development: History, New Trend, and Outlook for Sino-Japan Collaboration”, Dr. Yuchi Zhao, the Executive Director of the International Research and Training Center for Rural Education under the Auspices of UNESCO; Beijing Normal University provided the keynote speech, with Professor Kazuo Kuroda of Waseda University as a discussant. After the first day of this conference, an information exchange meeting was held, and we got valuable opportunities to communicate with researchers from other universities.

At this conference, Ms. Keiko Shimabe, who completed her master’s program under the supervision of Professor Keiichi Ogawa in March 2024, was awarded the “Outstanding Research Presentation Award”. She presented her master’s thesis under the title “An Analysis of Teachers’ Discipline on Pupils’ Academic Performance in Ugandan Primary Education: Case of Wakiso District”.
