Book Publication “Towards Ensuring Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education for All: Analyzing School Enrolment Patterns”

This book presents a comprehensive case study analysis of school attendance patterns across 12 countries in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. By tracing the educational trajectories of children—from enrollment, through challenges such as grade repetition and dropout, to eventual graduation or withdrawal—it illuminates the nuanced realities of education often overlooked in cross-sectional data analysis.

Utilizing longitudinal datasets, the book uncovers unique individual experiences typically obscured by average statistics. It employs a mixed-methods research design, combining quantitative analysis with qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews, to ensure a deep and  holistic understanding of education at the individual level.

The insights derived from this child-centered analysis offer innovative contributions toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education for All by 2030. This volume serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and graduate students specializing in comparative education, international educational development, and international cooperation.

Professor Keiichi Ogawa played a pivotal role in this publication, serving as editor and authoring four chapters. Other contributors include Ogawa Seminar (Ogawa-Zemi) alumni—Associate Professor Akemi Ashida (Nagoya University), Associate Professor James Wokadala (Makerere University), Dr. Chea Phal (World Bank)—and current Ogawa-Zemi student Sheikh Rashid Bin Islam, who co-authored chapters in the book. The table of contents below highlights contributions from Professor Ogawa, Ogawa-Zemi alumni, and Ogawa-Zemi’s current student.
