On May 26th, 2015, Ogawa seminar students organized a belated surprised birthday party for our Academic Advisor, Professor Keiichi Ogawa. The party was held in the Presentation Room in the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies (GSICS) Building, and more than 25 doctoral, masters and research students cerebrated Professor Ogawa’s birthday.
When Professor Ogawa entered the room, we surprised him with sound of the crackers and birthday song. We also presented birthday cake, birthday message cards, and bouquet of sunflowers. We chose a bouquet of sunflowers, because it symbolizes Professor Ogawa’s kindness, warmth and nice smile. We also gave him a Japanese wind chime (fu-rin), which is shaped in a panda. We think panda is Professor Ogawa’s favorite animal since he often talk about the movie, “Kuong Fu Panda”.
In the evening of the surprised party at university, Professor Ogawa and his students moved to Sannomiya (downtown Kobe) to have dinner together. The dinner menu was barbecue (yakiniku), which is one of Professor Ogawa’s favorite food. More than 20 students joined the dinner to cerebrate Professor Ogawa’s birthday.
