Professor Keiichi Ogawa organized the series of lectures on the topic of the United Nations (UN) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He gave the first lecture of the series on January 15th. In his lecture, he presented the organizations of the United Nations, mainly UNESCO and UNICEF, described how they work for the achievement of the SDGs. He also provided suggestions for students to find jobs in these organizations.
The series of “United Nations and SDGs” will occur in January 2022 and February 2022. It includes the following lectures:

- Dr. Mioko Saito, Head, Training and Education Programmes, IIEP-UNESCO – How does UNESCO IIEP frame SDGs in Its Work?
- Mr. Anoupheng Keovongsa, Deputy Director-General, Ministry of Education and Sports, Lao PDR – SDGs and UN Support in Lao PDR
- H.E. Sothea Lim, Director-General, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Cambodia – SDGs and UN Support in Cambodia
- Prof. Mmantsetsa Marope, Executive Director, World Heritage Group (WHG) – SDGs Ecosystem for Impactful Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD)
- Ms. Mayra Valle Torres, Minister-Counselor, Embassy of El Salvador in Japan – UN Programs in Disaster Risk Management in Central America
- Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Assistant Professor, University of Dhaka – UN and Skills Development Program in Bangladesh for Sustainable
- Dr. Satoko Yano, Programme Specialist, UNESCO Headquarters – UNESCO’s Roles in SDGs and Beyond, with a focus on SDG4
- Prof. Mmantsetsa Marope, Executive Director, World Heritage Group (WHG) – STEM Education for Realizing SDGs
These lectures will provide insightful opportunities for students to have both a general and deep understanding about the work of the UN organizations towards the SDGs. Moreover, they will acquire behavioral skills in order to find consultant and staff positions in UNESCO, UNICEF and other UN organizations, as it is the objective of several students.
