Ogawa Seminar student received the “Outstanding Research Presentation Award” at the 29th Japan Society for Africa Educational Research Conference

The 29th Japan Society for Africa Educational Research (JSAER) Conference was held virtually at the Waseda University on Saturday April 9th and Sunday April 10th, 2022. At this forum, more than 20 researchers and practitioners presented their work. From the Ogawa seminar, one alumni, one doctoral student, and three master students participated and presented their research in this forum. Mr. Ayumu Yagi, who presented his research results at this conference was awarded the ” Outstanding Research Presentation Award- “. The title of Mr. Yagi’s research was “-Understanding the Expenditure on Pre-primary Education in Kenya: A Demand Analysis using Engel Curve Framework-“. He presented his master’s thesis submitted when he conferred his master’s degree in March 2022.

The first day of the forum began with the opening remarks by Professor Yoshiko Tonegawa, the executive committee chairman of the conference. Professor Kazuo Kuroda of Waseda University was the keynote speaker, with the topic of Global Governance of Inclusive Education. Then, the special session entitled “Children with Disabilities and Acceptance of Inclusive Education Examination from International Comparison” included works from Professor Kanako Korenaga of Kochi University, Professor Yoshiko Tonegawa of Waseda University, Professor Jun Kawaguchi of University of Tsukuba, Professor Mayo Oba of Teikyo University, and Professor Hiroko Furuta of Kumamoto University. After that, Professor Nobuhide Sawamura of Osaka University and Professor Takako Homma of Kokushikan University made critical comments as debaters. At the end of the first day, there was an information exchange meeting, which gave us a valuable opportunity to interact with researchers from other universities.

The next Japan Society for Africa Educational Research (JSAER) conference will be held both online and face-to-face at Kagoshima University on October 15th and 16th, 2022.
