On June 15, 2024, the GSICS held an Open Day. A total of 80 potential students participated in-person or online, and listened to the presentations given by faculty members.
In the “Voices from Graduates and Students” session, Mr. Masaya Noguchi, a doctoral student of Ogawa Seminar, presented the appeals to the GSICS. Mr. Noguchi is currently working as a consultant for UNESCO Bangkok while continuing his doctoral studies. He noted that the GSICS’s international atmosphere, lectures by experienced faculty members, and internship opportunities have led him to his current position. At the end, he concluded his presentation by stressing how GSICS is a good environment to prepare for working in the international setting. Also, four Ogawa Seminar students (Mr. Minami Ryoto, Mr. Ayumu Yagi, Ms. Mai Hirose, and Mr. Thavrith Sara) shared their internship experiences at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), and the International Labour Organization, respectively.
Professor Keiichi Ogawa explained the significance of sending students to internships, saying that learning about the realities in developing countries and how international cooperation works is very important to be active in international society. He also shared some photos of overseas field study, in which he and his students visited practitioners and researchers in the US.
