On May 29-30, 2025, more than 200 dedicated scholars, researchers, and practitioners from over 30 countries convened in Bali, Indonesia, for The 11th World Conference on Women’s Studies. This dynamic event offered over 120 presentations addressing contemporary issues in women’s studies and social welfare, fostering an inspiring environment for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Among the presenters was Dr. Huyen Nguyen, a research fellow at the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University, whose work is supported by the KAKENHI Start-up Research Grant. Dr. Nguyen shared her latest research on maternal well-being through her presentation titled “Vietnamese Mothers’ Well-being: Preliminary Findings on Educational Background and Living Location.” Her study explored whether a mother’s level of completed education and her living environment influence her well-being. The qualitative insights drawn from interviews with Vietnamese mothers resonated strongly with the international audience, sparking engaging discussions.
The conference also featured a critical group discussion led by Dr. Diana Fox, focusing on the pervasive challenge of gender-based violence (GBV). This session addressed pressing global issues and potential solutions, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing gender equality.
Overall, The 11th World Conference on Women’s Studies provided a rich platform for academics, social workers, and students to connect, share research, and inspire action towards social justice and gender equity worldwide.
