The 38th Japan Society for Africa Educational Research (JSAER) Conference Held at the University of Hyogo

On October 24 and 25, 2026, the 38th Japan Society for Africa Educational Research (JSAER) Conference was held at the University of Hyogo. A total of 31 oral presentations were delivered at the conference. From Ogawa Seminar, three alumni, one researcher, two doctoral students, and one master’s student presented their research proposals and findings. These presentations included a joint research project by Professor Keiichi Ogawa, Dr. Kexin Wang, a specially appointed assistant professor at Kobe University, and Dr. Ryuto Minami, a researcher at the University of Tokyo. In addition, Dr. Jean-Baptiste Sanfo, an alumnus of Ogawa Seminar and currently an associate professor at the University of Hyogo, served as the chair of the conference organizing committee, while Dr. Katsuki Sakaue, also an alumnus of Ogawa Seminar and currently an associate professor at Kobe University, served as a session chair.

The conference also featured two special sessions entitled “Learning from Dr. Takuya Baba’s Life Story” and “Learning from Dr. Kazuhiro Yoshida’s Life Story.” Both professors shared their experiences and insights gained through their academic careers and work in international development cooperation. We also gained valuable perspectives for our future research from their advice to early-career researchers.

Following the first day of the conference, a reception was held, providing a valuable opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with students, researchers, and faculty members from other universities.

The following research presentations were delivered by Ogawa Seminar members and alumni at the conference (in alphabetical order).
