The new book called Handbook of Research on Acquiring 21st Century Literacy Skills Through Game-Based Learning, edited by professor Carol-Ann Lane from the University of Toronto, in Canada, includes one chapter authored by Professor Ogawa and Dr. Jahangir Alam, who graduated from the University of Kobe, and Sheikh Islam. The title is Discrete Primary Education Curriculum in Bangladesh: Implications of Gamification for Quality Education.
Bangladesh has no unified primary education curriculum. Therefore, schools must choose among curricular propositions in order to provide quality education, of which three of them are mainstream. This choice has important implications on how the school functions and about the possibilities for exploring gamification practices with primary education students. So, the authors explore these issues in order to contribute to policymakers and school system leaders about curriculum construction, curriculum choice and the use of gamification practices. You can access the book with this link.
Dr. Alam graduated from the doctoral program at Kobe University in 2020, currently he is an assistant professor at the University of Dhakka, in Bangladesh. Other publications from Dr. Alam are: Dilemma of Parental Aspiration for Children with Special Needs in Early Childhood Education (ECE) Settings: The Case of Bangladesh, from the Journal of Asia-Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education and Empowerment of Women to Alleviate Poverty through Education in Bangladesh from the Journal of Governance and Innovation.
